Gravenhurst Releases New Album, ‘The Ghost In Daylight,” On Warp Records

[lastfm]Gravenhurst[/lastfm] is the one man project of Nick Talbot, hailing from Bristol, England, that has now grown to a four-piece band. The Ghost In Daylight continues on the sonic themes Talbot’s become revered for – fragile harmonies, intricate guitar work, dream-like atmospheres – yet the record never sounds like territory re-tread. “In Miniature” sounds like [lastfm]Nick Drake[/lastfm] comfortably lost in a tunnel, as the serpentine “Islands” recalls the otherworldly folk of early British psychedelica. The record’s title fits the mood throughout perfectly – the music is cast in a ghostly shade, but never delves into morbid seriousness…altogether recalling the break of sunshine across a misty valley in Anywhere, Scotland.
