English piano-led rock band Keane will release their fourth album next week, marking the first new release since 2008′s Perfect Symmetry and the first to feature new bassist Jesse Quin. First indications of the album’s popularity are positive, with lead single “Silenced By The Night” being listened to by 4,471 listeners last week, making it their third most listened to track. Perfect Symmetry has a lot of work to do to overcome their most popular album, however, with 2004′s debut Hopes And Fears currently boasting close to 16,000,000 scrobbles.
A slightly more alternative style comes next with the release of Storm Corrosion’s self-titled debut album. Fetauring Mikael Åkerfeldt from Swedish progressive metal band Opeth and Steven Wilson from veteran rock band Porcupine Tree, Storm Corrosion claim to play the “Opposite to metal” and also claim that no other band sounds like them. Tracks have already reached the way of listeners, with the pair already being scrobbled 53,886 times. With anticipation clearly high, this self-titled release looks like it’ll be bringing something genuinely new to the table.
The third in our pick of next week’s releases is a new album by Silversun Pickups. The LA quartet have been around since 2002 and Neck Of The Woods will mark their third album. With over 16,000,000 scrobbles gained from just two albums and several EPs, the band should be confident of a successful third outing however lead single “Bloody Mary [Nerve Endings]” was only their seventeenth most listened to track last week with 985 listeners.
