From Drums To Lead Vocals/Guitar, Ronnie Vannucci Of The Killers Is Ready To Sing His Heart Out In His New Band Big Talk

After releasing albums and touring for around nine years, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Ronnie Vannucci Jr[/lastfm], the drummer for [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Killers[/lastfm], decided to do something new.  Whether it was because the band went on hiatus or it was another dilemma, he decided to start a new American rock band which took on the name [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Big Talk[/lastfm].  He started by enlisted the help of his longtime friend and also former band member (they were both a part of  Expert on October) Taylor Milne to record a solo album. Then some other former [lastfm]Expert on October[/lastfm] band members like [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Matt Sharp[/lastfm] (former bassist from [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Weezer[/lastfm]) and Ted Sablay came in to help contribute bass parts for the new album. This album pretty much is a reunion of old friends/band members jamming together and putting out what they got.

Getaways (with lyrics)
When there is a live performance, Ronnie does vocals and guitar while Taylor is also on guitar.  Since you cant do a live performance with just guitars and vocals, they brought in Alex Stopa to play drums,  Tyson Henrie for bass and John Spiker for keys, guitar and background vocals.  these guys are masters of their instruments and in my eyes perfect for the parts that they filled.
No Whiskey
For the new album, they had gotten the help of producer Joe Chicarelli (who is the producer for [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Strokes [/lastfm]and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]My Morning Jacket[/lastfm]) and then bought it to London’s Assault & Battery to get it mixed by Ronnie’s friend [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Alan Moulder[/lastfm] (who has mixed for big bands like [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]U2[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Killers[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Foo Fighters[/lastfm]).  The album is being called the “rock club-shaped soundtrack to the summer”.
Now on July 25th, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Big Talk[/lastfm] is set to make their live television debut on Jimmy Kimmel LiveWilliam Goodman from SPIN Magazine wrote “While [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Brandon Flowers[/lastfm] has been largely credited with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Killers[/lastfm]‘ infectious rock melodies and hooks, it now appears that the band’s secret weapon was sitting behind the drum kit.” He continues that single Getaways is “an anthemic electro-rock jam with glistening synths and an upbeat, fun ’80s feel, but in a way catchier (and better) way…”  Personally I agree with Mr. Goodman because its amazing when a drummer comes to the front and sings, especially when the vocals are crazy good.  Ronnie is extremely talented and I can’t wait to hear more from him.
