Domino Records – Record Store Day Sampler 2011

Domino Records

Known for possessing sensibilities both American and indie, Domino made a name for itself back in the early ’90s by snatching up every great, stateside indie-rock band it could get its hands on; [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Pavement[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Superchunk[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Guided By Voices[/lastfm] all released records on the label. Nowadays, Domino takes a slightly more U.K.-centric approach (“Englindie”?). It signed the inescapable [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Franz Ferdinand[/lastfm] a few years ago, for instance, as well as [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Clinic[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Arctic Monkeys[/lastfm], and the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kills[/lastfm].

In celebration of Record Store Day, the highly influential label, and one of my all-time favorites, has released a kick-ass sampler one featuring new songs from the Arctic Monkeys, a Franz Ferdinand remix of an epic [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]LCD Soundsystem[/lastfm] track, plus tons of other great songs.
