He’s one of the most dynamic live performers you’ll ever see. Rapper [lastfm]Pigeon John[/lastfm] is part comedian, part dramatic actor, and all about the music. His latest album is called Dragon Slayer and it’s poised to become his breakthrough work – a signature piece to show the world what this hard-working entertainer is all about. [lastfm]Pigeon John[/lastfm] stopped by the Street Date studios this week to perform tracks off the new album, and to talk about an especially tasty remix of his killer track “The Bomb,” executed by remix technician [lastfm]Cassettes Won’t Listen[/lastfm]. In the next few weeks we’ll publish the incredible (“out-of-this-world” might be more appropriate) video of [lastfm]Pigeon John[/lastfm] performing live in the Street Date studio. In the meantime, the best way to introduce the man and his talent is through his current single “The Bomb.” It’s the lead track off his new album Dragon Slayer and it’s one of those “come hear about me” kind of tracks. Not exactly biographical, but definitely a window into the man’s life and thoughts. Click play below to hear the original album version of “The Bomb.”
When it came time to solicit remixes of “The Bomb,” there was no one Pigeon John would have rather turned to than producer Jason Drake, aka [lastfm]Cassettes Won’t Listen[/lastfm]. The Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist has gained notoriety for his remixing skills, giving the world his animated takes on songs by the likes of [lastfm]Matt & Kim[/lastfm], [lastfm]Dappled Cities[/lastfm], [lastfm]Aesop Rock[/lastfm] and heavyweights like [lastfm]El-P[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Morcheeba[/lastfm]. Does his take on “The Bomb” measure up? Or does it blow up? Give it a listen, and give us your opinion below.
